I know this is probably a really random question but planning on making a Stealth Shelf for my Corsa b, Anyone know the ideal thickness of MDF? got 12mm but someone said about 16mm? Thanks for any advice if anyone knows!

Id either go 18 or 25, 12mm will be way to thin.

I made one for my Gf's corsa,
Used 18mm MDF, Drill, Jigsaw, screws, spray glue and acoustic cloth..
First cut a sheet of MDF to the size of the dipped recess.
This then gets screwed to the parcel shelf, holes cut fo the speakers, then unscrew the MDF,
First cover the MDF with Acoustic cloth, then screw the parcel shelf to it, then cover the parcel shelf in acoustic cloth.
Add speakers, Job done.
Here's a few pics of the one I made..

Omg thank you so much! makes more sense than doing it from scratch! Do you cut speaker holes in the parcel shelf as well as the MDF? returned my 12mm for 18mm! Rough length of Acoustic Cloth needed?

Yeah cut holes in both the shelf and MDF then when covering the parcel shelf make sure you pull the cloth tight to prevent sagging, a staple gun is a good shout.
I think the roll of cloth i got was 1m x 1.4m basically you'll need the length of the shelf plus a few inches.

this may sound stupid but why cut holes in the shelf?? why not just attach the mdp to the bottom of it and then you wont have to cover it again??
